How we teach

Transform your passion into performance.

Cultural Immersion & Mastery

At NSDA, dance is not just a practice, it's a journey of cultural immersion. Students begin their exploration by mastering the fundamentals of dance- footwork, postures, and the expressive mudras rooted in Naatya Shaastra. Every lesson intertwines folk art and traditions with the deep cultural significance of each dance movement, ensuring that students understand why they dance in specific styles and learn the art form.

Tailored Progression

Each student’s learning path at NSDA is carefully curated. Lessons are adapted to individual skill levels, allowing beginners and experienced dancers to progress at their own pace. Beginners focus on the building blocks of technique, while advanced dancers challenge themselves with intricate choreographies and complex rhythms.

Every new student begins by meeting Vandita. She places each dancer in the class that fits, and moves them on as they grow.

Blending Theory and Practice

NSDA lessons go beyond performance, introducing students to the rich theory behind their dances. Learning includes folk studies in history, mythology, and the storytelling elements embedded in each form. This comprehensive approach enables students to perform with precision and communicate the deeper meanings behind their art.

Diverse Dance Forms

From folk to semi-classical and contemporary, NSDA offers workshops that expose students to a wide array of dance forms. These workshops are more than a chance to learn- they offer a gateway to India’s diverse cultural heritage. Guest instructors, visiting experts, and specialized courses ensure students remain curious and versatile in their learning.

Performances and Growth

Beyond the classroom, students are given opportunities to showcase their growth in performances, community events, and special showcases hosted by NSDA. These real-world experiences help dancers gain confidence, improve stage presence, and collaborate with their peers in meaningful ways.

Vandita expects nothing but the best from her students which teaches them hard work and commitment.
NSDA is a phenomenal dance school that has not only greatly advanced my capabilities as a dancer, but has also fostered a genuine connection with and appreciation for Indian culture.
NSDA is a wonderful dance school! I have been a student under Vandita Parikh for about 6 years now and have learned so much about folk dance. Through her instruction I have been able to grow as not only a dancer but also as an individual. I am grateful to have trained under such an inspiring and passionate dancer.
I have been attending NSDA for more than 10 years and I’m extremely happy with my experience here. Mrs. Vandita is a very dedicated teacher who only wants the best for the students.
We know Vandita for the past 4 years now. She continues to impress us with her knowledge of folk dance. The children in her dance school are excited to go to the class and learn from Vandita.
I attended the annual recital for Nruthya Shakti Dance Academy and was amazed at how well put together the show was! I am amazed at the variety of talent displayed in the 3 hours and the creativity portrayed. The most important thing I have noticed with her students is the students depict the art form while enjoying it!
Learning for past two years folk dancing from Vandita Parikh. Living my dream of a dancer. All credit goes to my guru, Vanditaji. Blessed to be part of your dance academy!
